Adele has openly discussed the genesis of it saying, “Well, I wrote that song because I was exhausted from being such a bitch, with ‘Rolling in the Deep’ or ‘Rumour Has It’ … I was really emotionally drained from the way I was portraying him, because even though I’m very bitter and regret some parts of it, he’s still the most important person that’s ever been in my life, and ‘Someone Like You,’ I had to write it to feel OK with myself and OK with the two years I spent with him. And when I did it, I felt so freed.”

Adele has said that it was written on her acoustic guitar, quickly, in the wake of the break-up of her 18 month relationship with the 30-year old man she thought she would marry. A few months after their split, he had gotten engaged to someone else. “We were so intense I thought we would get married. But that was something he never wanted …So when I found out he does want that with someone else, it was just the horrible-est feeling ever. But after I wrote it, I felt more at peace. It set me free … I didn’t think it would resonate … with the world! I’m never gonna write a song like that again. I think that’s the song I’ll be known for.” She also said that “I wrote that song on the end of my bed. I had a cold. I was waiting for my bath to run. I’d found out that he’d got engaged.”

Adele revealed that she was struggling emotionally when she composed it: “When I was writing it I was feeling pretty miserable and pretty lonely, which I guess kind of contradicts ‘Rolling in the Deep’. Whereas that was about me saying, ‘I’m going to be fine without you’, this is me on my knees really.” She discussed further the inspiration of the song: “I can imagine being about 40 and looking for him again, only to turn up and find that he’s settled with a beautiful wife and beautiful kids and he’s completely happy… and I’m still on my own. The song’s about that and I’m scared at the thought of that.”

So this song seems to be about The Eagles talking about society.

Too many people crying and complaining about everything. The Eagles are saying “Get over it.”

Also, the line, “Kill all the lawyers”, could have come from, Shakespeare, who is referred to as “Old Billy” (William = Bill = Billy) and the lawyer line is from Henry VI, Part 2. The line is:

Now, I would have to say that the Lady did not really live up to expectations with this one.

Perhaps, it was too much anticipation after a few of her previous releases that did this one in.

Born this way is extremely short on intensity, intrigue and general enjoyability, which has been so characteristic of Lady Gaga’s songs.

The muddled dance steps don’t do justice to the sensitive issue that she is trying to deal with. In fact, the entire subject stays buried deep beneath the excessive sound effects and the perplexing mess up of diverse ethnicities that she attempts to portray.

What makes this song disgusting is the fact that it is full of sick perversions. Some of the gestures made by Gaga are over the top and are in an extremely bad taste.

Lyrics like “A different lover is not a sin”, is terrible morals for fresh young minds.

Sure be happy with yourself is a good message, but there is no need for the half dressed, soulless singer in flip flops.

I feel it is a wonderful inspirational song, which encourages people with low self esteem to have faith in their abilities and feel proud of themselves for what they are. The message conveyed by the singer is absolutely clear and very strong. It is simply about letting your true self out without worrying about what other people think. In a sense, it tells you to be what you are and not what others want you to be.

Firework also tells people to learn to accept their shortcomings as that is what makes every person unique. The song gives people the motivation that they require to stay focused and reach their goals.

So it doesn’t matter, the song conveys, if people make fun of you for being a little overweight, gay or even lesbian. Just remember that life has its share of ups and downs and things will get better sooner or later.

The lines “You just gotta ignite the light And let it shine” perfectly communicates the message that every person has some hidden talent and it’s just a matter of discovering your true potential.

I feel there is a really deep meaning associated with this song. Listening to the lyrics carefully suggests that the song is about a girl who wants desperately to not fall in love but eventually succumbs to the temptation as it is inevitable.

Now, she ends that relationship for some reason and after the hard times of falling in love and the pain associated with it (here referred to as the Dog Days) are over, she runs hard to be with her mother, father and others who she really cares for.

The singer has compared love and the pain of being in a relationship with “being hit like a train on the track” and “a bullet in the head”, which is absolutely amazing to say the least.

The lines “She hid around corners and she hid under beds She killed it with kisses and from it she fled” also imply that the singer is trying desperately to run away from her lover whom she once loved more than her life.

Although the song, at first glimpse, might seem like the story of a serial killer, it is actually about this guy who breaks Christina’s and a lot of other girls’ hearts. The lyrics suggest that the guy cheats on Christina and when she learns about his escapades outside their relationship, she decides to call it off. Now, the guy wants her back in his life but she refuses and decides to move on in her life.

The singer, Christina Perri, has revealed the true story behind the song in her blog where she writes, “I wrote the song after I went home to Philadelphia for the holiday last December. I sat in my childhood bedroom and hid from the boy (with the jar of hearts) who wanted to see me.”

It’s an absolutely heart stirring song. Especially the line “who do you think you are” has been sung so rebelliously that it fills you with a raw emotion.

He was thinking about past memories, some sad memories about somebody passing or moved away from his life.

He feels lost, without direction, pleading for something to show him the right way. If the sun is behind you a shadow will be cast in front of you. Shadows may represent his past or just signify that he always wants to move forward in his life.

He is worried that he might be just wasting his time / life. If there is no direction and motivation in someone’s life it can feel like anything someone does is wasted time.

Conclusion
This is a beautiful short song with a great combination of acoustic guitars and violins in the background. I think this song is about someone without direction in their life. He sometimes thinks of the past and it brings some pain of someone he lost.
